He came from Donaghedy, County Down, Ireland, in 1790, and settled in Centre County, Pennsylvania.

He came to Alexandria, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, before 1800 and built a house near the public square, in which he died, leaving a widow and three children, two sons and a daughter.
