General Notes: Husband - Robert Sloan
He was brought up on his father's farm. He subsequently applied himself to mechanical pursuits, and carried on the business of cabinet-making. Shortly after marriage, he removed to the city of New York, but about 1812 permanently located at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where he pursued his avocation. He became one of the old borough's prominent citizens and was an elder in the First Presbyterian church for some years, "possessing," says Rev. Dr. Robinson, "the confidence of the church as a man of God, noble and blameless in his uprightness." [CBEDC, 145]
