General Notes: Husband - Isaac Mills
He came to western Pennsylvania with his father when sixteen years of age and spent his early life on the Allegheny County farm. In 1826 he leased two hundred acres, and in 1827 purchased a farm on the Monongahela, later the third ward of Braddock. He became prosperous, and in addition to an active life in the business world was prominent in church and educational work. He was one of the founders and charter members of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Braddock and continued to be its chief pillar for many years. He was one of the founders of Bethany College and for many years he had a scholarship in the college at his disposal.
He was the first burgess of the borough of Braddock; in 1829 he purchased property on which was a log house, and, later, supplanted it with a better dwelling. The home was built in 1848, but was remodeled in 1902, and became a beautiful mansion surrounded by spacious grounds.
