General Notes: Husband - John St. Clair

---

He was born in a log house in White township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania. His educational advantages were meager, being limited to those afforded by the old subscription schools. He followed farming all his active life in the place where he was born, but died while visiting with his daughters in Chicago.
He and his wife were Presbyterians in religious faith. In politics he was first a Whig and afterward a Republican.
