General Notes: Husband - John P. White

He attended school in Mt. Pleasant Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, and taught school in the same township for one winter, afterward taking up farm duties and was interested in agricultural pursuits thereafter. He was also an active citizen and served long and usefully in important township offices. For ten years he served as a justice of the peace in Mt. Pleasant Township, for six year was auditor and for the same length of time served as a member of the school board.

Following his first marriage, he resided on a farm in Hopewell township for two years and then purchased a farm, the old Hughes place, it having been in possession of the Hughes for 102 years without any deed of conveyance. He improved the farm considerably and had a valuable property and an exceedingly comfortable residence. He was an elder in the Mt. Prospect Presbyterian Church.
