General Notes: Husband - Lewis I. Stattenfield

He was engaged in the tobacco business and migrated to Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, where he opened a tobacco store on Penn avenue.

He was of German stock. At the close of the Revolution many of the Hessian soldiers hired by the English remained in the United States permanently. Lewis Stattenfield was a son or grandson of one of these. He was born in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. The exact date of his emigration to the west is not known, but his coming may have been due to the influence of David Little, who had married Christiana Stattenfield, the sister of Lewis.
