General Notes: Husband - James Miller

He was born in the Emerald Isle, immigrating to America in early manhood. He first located in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, where he married. In 1786 the young couple moved to Washington County, Pennsylvania, and made a home on the farm in Mt. Pleasant township occupied thereafter by their descendants. Mr. Miller made three visits to Ireland after settling in America. He took an active part in politics, and served his township as justice of the peace. He eventually died in Mt. Pleasant township, his widow surviving him many years. Both were members of the Seceder Church.

In 1784 or 1785 he emigrated from his home in County Tyrone, Ireland, to Chester County, Pennsylvania. A few years later he removed to Washington County, then a wilderness, and took out patents for over one thousand acres of land, embracing an area later owned by his descendants-John, James and Andrew Miller, of Mt. Pleasant and Chartiers townships. [CBRWC, 229]

He was born in Ireland, and coming to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, just before the Revolution, served five years in the war. In 1782 he married, afterward serving one year more as a soldier. In 1786 he returned to his wife, settling on a farm in Mt. Pleasant township, Washington County, and followed agricultural pursuits. He and his wife were members of the Seceder Church. [CBRWC, 1203]
