He was the first of this family to settle in Burnside township, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, where he subsequently resided all his life. He was a blacksmith by trade. He was a Republican in politics. He and his wife were members of the Methodist Protestant church.

He came to Clearfield County with his family, settling at Patchinville.
