General Notes: Husband - J. Scott Rhodes
He was born in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, where he attended the public schools while employed on the farm, and continued farming after he had left school. For two years he taught school in Chippewa Township, and then, removing to Beaver Falls, he took the commercial course at Butcher's Business College, where he graduated, after which he entered the employ of Pearson and Son, as a bookkeeper, so continuing from 1902 to 1913. On April 1, of that year, he bought the business of the firm, and with F. H. Johnston formed the partnership of Rhodes and Johnston. With the dissolution of that firm in 1920, Mr. Rhodes conducted the business on his own account as J. Scott Rhodes, dealer in builders' supplies and coal.
A Republican in political matters, Mr. Rhodes with his vote and influence supported the principles of that party. His fraternal affiliations were with the United Commercial Travelers; and his religious faith was that of the Methodist Protestant Church.
