General Notes: Husband - Ira A. Whitney
He embarked in the mercantile trade in Pittsfield, PA, in 1873, dealing extensively in all classes of merchandise, grain, seeds, feed, flour, lumber, shingles, clothing, boots and shoes, and did a general barter business to accommodate his farming trade. He was appointed postmaster November, 1885.
