He was born in the Ligonier Valley, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and came to West Mahoning township, where he became a large landholder. [BHCIA, 634]
He was born at Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. He came to West Mahoning township, Indiana County, where he became a large land holder. He was an elder in the United Presbyterian Church. He was connected with the "underground railroad" and helped many slaves to reach Canada.
