General Notes: Husband - William Tecumseh Sherman Lyon
He was educated in the public schools and, being the youngest son, remained at home working the farm until attaining his seventeenth year. He then became clerk in the store of his brother, George Lyon, at Connellsville, Pennsylvania, remaining with him three years, then when the store was sold to Mr. Binford he continued another year under the new proprietor. During the next three years he was in the employ of the H. C. Frick Coke Company in their stores at Standard, Morgan and Broad Ford. He next spent three and a half years at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the employ of C. E. Willets & Sons, retail grocers. He then established a grocery and meat market under the firm name of Lyon & Sheasley, continuing about eight years, located on Rebecca street, Pittsburgh. He then sold his partnership interest and located in the same business on Allegheny avenue under his own name. He continued there in successful business until April, 1909. The death of his father in that month changed his plans, and closing out his business in Pittsburgh he returned to Pennsville, where he resided at the old Lyon home on the outskirts of the village. He cared for his mother's interests and maked his home with her. He was also interested in the ownership of undeveloped coal lands. He was a Republican in politics, and a member of the Baptist church.
