General Notes: Husband - James Russell

The Russell brothers - Samuel, David, James, John and Caleb - with the Stewarts, Stevensons and Thompsons, were among the first settlers of the southeast quarter of Cherry Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania. The Russells came to that region from Virginia.

He was of Irish Presbyterian stock, and came to America from Ireland, settling in Concord Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, where he carried on farming.

He was born about 1779. [GPHAV, 907] [BOB37JD, 469]
He settled in Concord township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, where he engaged in agricultural pursuits. He purchased about five hundred acres of government land, a portion of which he afterward sold, and cleared and cultivated an extensive farm.

He and his wife were old residents of Butler County, Pennsylvania, coming there from Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and were farmers and large land owners. [GPHWP, 1406]

He died from the effect of an injury received which resulted in blood-poisoning, thus causing death.

He was the father of twenty-two children. [HBC 1883, 424]
