HUSBAND AND WIFE ARE VICTIMS OF EXPLOSION
Double Funeral to be Held\emdash Had Invited Friends to Witness Shooting of the Well.
One of the saddest features of the nitroglycerine explosion of New Year's afternoon at Semple's Corners was the untimely death of young Mr. and Mrs. Paul Stone, who were present to witness the shooting of a well on the John A. Stone lease. Mr. and Mrs. Stone lived on another lease a short distance from the scene of the fatal accident. Both Mr. and Mrs. Stone had asked a number of their friends to witness the shooting of the well.
Mr. Stone, aged 25, was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Stone, of 1401 Otter street, this city, and was well known among a wide circle of friends, who were shocked to learn of his death and that of his devoted wife.
Mrs. Stone, aged 24, formerly Miss Edna Evelyn Baker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Curtis Baker, of Bleakley Hill. She was born in Franklin February 14, 1899, and spent her entire life in this community. She had gained a host of friends due to her charming personality and character. She was a devoted church worker and member of the First Evangelical church of Franklin. She was married on Christmas Day, 1916.
Surviving are her parents and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. L. O. Porter, Mrs. Warren D. Rhodes, Philip, Willis, Homer and Curtis, Jr., all of Franklin; J. D. Baker, of Muskegon, Mich.; and Ellsworth and Ralph, of Los Angles, Cal.
The husband is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John A. Stone; a brother, Joseph, of Sugarcreek, and a sister, Mrs. William Hepner, of Frankin.
