General Notes: Husband - George W. Stoner


He was educated in the local public schools and completed a special business course at Duff's Business College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. For two years he was superintendent of the Warden Coal Company. In 1882 he entered the banking business, as bookkeeper in the First National Bank of Mount Pleasant. He was advanced to the post of assistant cashier, then cashier. From that position he was promoted to the vice-presidency. In all, Mr. Stoner served the bank for forty-three years or more. He was treasurer of the Mount Pleasant Building and Loan Association, and was treasurer of the Jacob Justice Free Medical Dispensary continuously beginning in July, 1903; the dispensary room was located in the building of the Mount Pleasant Memorial Hospital but had no connection with the hospital. Mr. Stoner was been a member of the Mount Pleasant Hospital Board from its organization. A Republican in party affiliation, Mr. Stoner took a keen interest but not an active part in local politics. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the Encampment, and of the Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce. He was an active communicant of the Church of God, in which he was an elder, and for which he served as delegate to State conventions; and was treasurer of the West Pennsylvania Eldership, Church of God, continuously from February 1, 1898.
