As to the name McGeorge, and the fact of the residence of the family in the extreme southern portion of Scotland, there is a tradition to the effect that they were originally of the McGregor clan, but that, because of religious differences, they renounced relation to that race of warriors and founded the family of McGeorge in the south of Scotland.
