He came to Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, with his parents when a young man, and lived in that county the remainder of his life. He was never married and made his home with his parents and with his brother, William. He learned shoemaking at which he worked at times in winter. He was a farmer and dealt in land, having bought and sold several farms during his life.
