General Notes: Husband - David Line
He attended the schools of the home district, and completed his education by a course in Burns Academy at Good Hope, Pennsylvania. Seven years of his early manhood were spent principally in Washington County, Iowa, during which time he returned home to attend school for one winter.
Soon after marriage he and his wife located on a place in Dickinson Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, where he had a farm of 173 acres, being part of the homesteads of both families. On this farm he erected a handsome brick residence and very complete and substantial farm buildings.
In 1896 he retired from the active work of the farm, but still made his home there, the place being managed by his son Marion M. Besides this property Mr. Line owned a good farm of 103 acres in South Middleton township, occupied by his son David William, and 128 acres in Frankford township.
He and all his sons were members of the First Presbyterian Church at Carlisle, Pennsylvania. He devoted a great deal of attention to the education of his children. In politics he was a Republican.
