General Notes: Husband - William Stilt Taylor

He was educated at the common and select schools and academy at Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, and Mantua Academy, Philadelphia. He read law with Hon. J. R. Ludlow, in Philadelphia, and with his father in Huntingdon, also attending law lectures at University of Pennsylvania. He was admitted to the bar in Linn County, Iowa, Jan. 11, 1879, and to the bar of Huntingdon County Oct. 1, 1882.

He was educated in Huntingdon Academy and Mantua Academy, West Philadelphia, and spent several years in the employ of the Pennsylvania road as clerk. He then studied law under judge James R. Ludlow, of Philadelphia; attended lectures at the University of Pennsylvania; later went west and in 1880 was admitted to the bar at Marion, Lynn County, Iowa. He practiced there two years, then returned to Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, where he was admitted to the bar in 1883 and began to practice, specializing in the law of real estate, in which he acquired a high reputation. Mr. Taylor was well known beyond the confines of his profession and was the author of a volume of allegorical poems, published in 1891, under the title of "Man Immortal." This volume was well received and widely read, as were other of Mr. Taylor's literary productions. He was a Republican in politics and an attendant of the Presbyterian church.
