General Notes: Husband - Charles Maclay
He went to the Revolutionary War in 1777 with one hundred men, all six feet in height. At the battle of Crooked Billet, Pennsylvania, May, 1778, he was killed with most of his company, who refused to surrender. The killed and wounded were gathered by the enemy, thrown into a heap, covered with straw and fired. Thus perished some of the bravest spirits of the Cumberland Valley.
