General Notes: Husband - Nathaniel McDowell

---

He emigrated from Scotland to Ireland, and thence to America about 1758, and settled near Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. From there he removed about 1780 to the country west of the Monongahela, passing by way of Catfish Camp (where there was at that time but one house), and settled in the wilderness on land in Buffalo township, Washington County. On the 6th of September, 1793, he warranted the tract "Wolf Ridge," two hundred and two acres, which was surveyed to him October 4th of the same year. Afterwards he warranted and patented other lands in the vicinity.
