General Notes: Husband - George R. McAninch

Under the able direction of his father, he became a most thorough and skillful agriculturist, and in the common schools aquired his literary education. During the construction of the railroad through that section of the country, he conducted a boarding house for the employees, later operated a sawmill for one year; but thereafter devoted his attention principally to the cultivation of the old family homestead during the summer months, while the winter seasons he passed in lumbering. The farm contained 200 acres, 150 of which were under cultivation and improved with two comfortable frame dwellings, good barns and other outbuildings, together with a fine orchard. It was underlaid with a good grade of coal and limestone, was pleasantly situated on the Red Bank river one mile from Baxter, and was one of the most desirable places in Clover township.
