General Notes: Husband - William D. Walton
He was ten years old when his parents died, and he was taken by his grandmother, Mrs. David Aiken, and was reared on the Aiken homestead, in Shenango Township, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania. He was educated in the country schools and Westminster College, where he was graduated in 1895, with his degree of B. A. Mr. Walton then went into newspaper work, first on the force of the New Castle Daily Guardian, and continued when this paper was merged with the Courant, under the name of the Courant-Guardian. In 1897 he went to Pittsburgh, and was connected with the Pittsburg Commercial Gazette, until 1900, when he returned to his native township and opened up a general store.
In politics, he was a Republican and took an active interest in public matters. In 1900 he was elected justice of the peace of Shenango Township, and approval was shown of his administration by a second election.
