County Assessor O. W. Pollard Died Wednesday
O. W. Pollard, Power County Assessor since he was appointed on April 30, 1935, died Wednesday afternoon at the local hospital following several weeks illness.
He was born November 25, 1867, at Huntsville, Wash., the son of George and Harriet Pollard. He lived in Huntsville until 1903 where, after he grew to manhood, he bought grain and engaged in farming except for a short time he served as county deputy assessor. He moved to LaCrosse, Wash. where he farmed until 1909 when he came to Roy, Idaho, and took up a homestead. Here he married Auril Lusher on April 28, 1911. In 1917 he moved to American Falls where he bought grain, during which time he seved one term as state representative.
In 1930 he was appointed foreman of the state highway department in Power county which office he held until 1935 when he was appointed to the office of Power county assessor. He has been elected for that office three times since then.
When a young man he united with the Methodist church but since living in American Falls he has been affiliated with the Baptists. He joined the Independent Order of Odd Fellows when 21 years of age.
Surviving him are his widow, five sons and one daughter: George Pollard of Roy; Harold Pollard of Fresno, Calif.; James Pollard of Edmonton, Canada; John Pollard of Bakersfield, Calif.; Don Pollard of American Falls; and Hazel Pollard of Lodi, Calif. One grandson, two brothers and one sister: Robert Pollard of Huntsville, Wash.; Roy Pollard of Lapine, Ore.; and Mrs. Mary Davis, Clarkston, Wash. also survive him.
Funeral services will be held in the Methodist church at 2 p. m. Saturday with Rev. Jack Robinson of the Baptist church officiating. Interment will be made in the Lake View cemetery with the Odd Fellows in charge of the graveside services.

Long Illness Claims Life of Auril L. Pollard
Mrs. Auril Lusher Pollard, 84, passed away Tuesday, April 28th at a rest home in Modesto, Calif., following a long illness.
SHE WAS BORN June 26, 1880 at Cambria, Iowa. She spent her early life in Corydon, Iowa and attended teachers college in the east.
She came west and taught school in Washington and Idaho.
She married Oliver W. Pollard, April 28, 1911, at Ogen, Utah. They made their home in the Roy area where they dry farmed until Mr. Pollard retired in 1931, and they moved to American Falls.
She was an active member of the Bethany Baptist church and Baptist Women's Department.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1941; also one daughter Lucille.
SURVIVORS include one daughter, Hazel Pollard, Modesto, Calif.; two sons, Donald of Stockton, Calif. and John, American Falls. Also three step sons, Harold O. Pollard, Fresno, Calif., Jim Pollard, Oak Ridge, Ore., and George, American Falls; three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, May 2 at 2 p.m. from the Bethany Baptist church with Rev. Kendal S. North officiating. Burial was in Fallsview Cemetery under the direction of Davis Mortuary.
Casket bearers were Don Benson, Homer Kress, Jack Richards, Virgil Schmett, Ray Burge and Darrell Lind.
Flower ladies were Mrs. I. L. Harwood, Mrs. J. P. Mehlhaff, Mrs. Fred Mayer and Mrs. Max Mayer.
