He was a tanner as well as a farmer. In November, 1811, he and his brother John Thompson-52\emdash purchased a tract of land in Lost Creek Valley, originally granted to James Micheltree in 1767. He also purchased part of the land of Andrew Thompson\emdash (1o)\emdash where he lived and died\emdash "
