General Notes: Husband - William Burton Lucas

Upon completing his public school education Mr. Lucas began his business career as a clerk in a general store at Unionville, Pennsylvania, which he was associated with for three years. He then served in a similar capacity for an establishment at Osceola Mills and eighteen months later resigned to become a traveling sales representative for the Denlinger Brothers Oil Company of Pittsburgh. On February 1, 1902, fourteen years after he joined the firm, it was sold to the Atlantic Refining Company. He was retained by the new organization and eventually appointed district sales manager for the Greensburg District, an office he occupied until his retirement on October 31, 1935.
During his life in Greensburg he was actively identified with community affairs, holding membership in the local Rotary Club, fraternizing with the Masonic Order, subscribing to the principles of the Republican party and worshipping at the First Presbyterian Church, in which he was an elder.
