General Notes: Husband - Samuel Lyon


He read law with his father, and was admitted to the bar of Bedford County, Pennsylvania, in 1858.
Civil War: He enlisted in Co. H, 107th Pa. vols. in 1861, and passed through the various grades of private, first lieutenant and captain of the company. He served also on the staff of Gen. Baxter, and was discharged in July, 1865.
In 1868 he located in Indiana, Pennsylvania, and in 1871 removed to Blairsville. During his residence in Blairsville, he engaged in the practice of law in Indiana and Westmoreland counties.

At the outbreak of the Civil war he recruited a volunteer company, and was commissioned first lieutenant of Company H, 107th regiment of the Pennsylvania volunteers, Nov. 21, 1861, and promoted to quartermaster July 19, 1862. He was present and engaged in a number of battles, among them being Chantilly, Cedar mountain, Bull Run, South mountain, Antietam and Gettysburg, serving throughout the war and afterwards re-enlisting for special service.
