General Notes: Husband - Rev. Samuel Henderson Moore

He attended the public schools and spent three years under the tutelage of Prof. W. I. Brugh and Rev. J. W. Hamilton, at Witherspoon Institute in Butler. He entered the sophomore class of Westminster College at New Wilmington in 1872, and gradu-ated three years later. He then took a three years' course at Allegheny United Presbyterian Theological Seminary, graduating in 1878, and during the second year taught the Greenville High-school, keeping up with his class.
He was licensed by the U. P. Presbytery to preach, but preferring the ordinances of the Presbyterian Church, he was ordained in 1879 by the Mahoning presbytery of that church, and took charge of a church at Poland, Ohio, October 1, 1879. He went from there to Imperial, and from that church went to Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, February 1, 1885. During one year of his labor at Poland he received over ninety members, and after coming to Wilkinsburg the church grew from 188 to 420 communicants. This was partly owing to the rapid growth of the borough, as well as the strength and labors of the pastor. He was a worker for prohibition, but always gave his political allegiance to the republican party.
