General Notes: Husband - Jacob McCracken

---

When a lad of fourteen years, with his mother, brothers and sister, he emigrated to America, and settled in the valley of Slippery Rock Creek, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, where he became engaged in agricultural
pursuits.

He was born in Ireland and accompanied the other members of the family to America while young. They bought a farm in Scott Township, on Slippery Rock Creek, in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania. It contained 200 acres, and since fine water power was available, the family built and operated a grist-mill for many years. Jacob McCracken was reared on this farm.

She spent much of her early years with her grandmother Reader in Washington County,
Pennsylvania. She married and they lived on a farm near Harlansburg, Pennsylvania, until 1884, when they removed to New Castle.
