General Notes: Husband - George Sutherland
He was born in Scotland and when three years of age was brought by his parents to America. He was a purely home-taught, self-made man.
After marriage he and his wife settled on a farm in West Finley township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, and there carried on agriculture up to the day of their death.
They were members of the Presbyterian Church, of which he was a leading elder, and in politics he was a Whig.
