General Notes: Husband - James Ford Logan

After the death of his father, he went to live with his grandfather, Thomas Logan, in Ohio, and lived there until the death of his grandfather in 1859. He then went to live with a granduncle, who resided in the old Fulton homestead in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. There he remained until he completed his twenty-fourth year. At the Fulton home at that time were residing his uncles, Isaac and James Fulton, and his great-aunts, Margaret, Sarah and Catherine, all of whom, with the exception of Isaac, lived and died there at an old age, Catherine being the last survivor.

After receiving his education at the local public schools in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, he moved to a farm, situated between the old Furry and Fulton Tarr farms. At that time it consisted of fifty-six acres, but Mr. Logan over time increased it to ninety acres. Besides this he also built a number of modern farm buildings, and in addition to general farming operations he kept a dairy, devoting special attention to the making of butter. For twenty-eight years he sold this product to one customer. At the outset Mr. Logan kept a herd of fine Jersey cattle, but his herd later consisted of registered Guernseys and was conceded to be among the finest in the region. When this farm first became his possession it was distinctly run down, and as he himself was without capital, it became necessary for him to go in debt for a time. At the beginning the operation was very slow and it took him years to gain its complete ownership and to erect the necessary buildings.
He was a staunch Prohibitionist and several times was the candidate for various offices on that ticket.
He was an elder of the United Presbyterian church and attended what is there known as the old Dick Church in Sewickley township.
He found his chief recreation in touring in his motor car and visited many points of interest in Pennsylvania.
