He was a graduate of Washington and Jefferson College and McCormick Theological Seminary and served in various pastorates including Marshalltown, Iowa. He also served for a time as President of Buena Vista College at Storm Lake, Iowa. His last residence was at Redwood Falls, Minnesota, where he served his last pastorate in the First Presbyterian Church of that city, retiring therefrom some time before his death.
