Unknown newspaper,
Mrs. Catherine Linn died at her home near Nickleville on December 22, 1913, aged 83 years, five months, and five days. She was the daughter of Levi and Nancy Rumberger and was born in Huntington county, July 17, 1830. During her early childhood her parents came to this section. In August 1848 she was united in marriage with Charles Linn, who died a few years ago. To this union nine children were born. The oldest and the youngest died in infancy. Two sons, Rev. Beatty P. Linn, and Rev. Boyd W. Linn also have gone to their eternal home. The surviving children are: Mrs. Mary Jane Myers, Frank S. Linn, near Nickleville; Mrs. Maggie Lusher, of Newport, Wash.; Mrs. G. H. Nickle, of Ripley, NY and Jerry M. Linn, of Pittsburgh, PA. She is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Mary Weaver, of Meadville; Mrs. G. M. Nickle and L. C. Rumberger, of Nickleville; also by 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Linn made all arrangements for her funeral some time previous to her death. The services were held in the home on December 23, by Rev. Rumbaugh, assisted by Rev. Beatty. The discourse was made on John, 14th chapter and especially the second and third verses. The following hymns were sung: "Nearer, My God, To Thee"; "Abide with Me"; "Jesus, Lover of My Soul" and "City Four Square." The pall was borne by Rev. O. H. Nickle, Robert A. Myers, Jerry M. Linn and Frank S. Linn. Mrs. Linn had no diseases, her life slowly went out like a candle. She remained in an unbroken sleep for two days before she breathed her last. Her constitution was a remarkable one. At the age of 80 years she took her last horseback ride and was able to mount with very little assistance. She had been a most devout and active member of the Georgeville Methodist church ever since it was built. She was a noble woman and it can be truly said of her that she lived the Christian life every day in the week and was sincerely loved by all who knew her. She enjoyed a beautiful old age and received every loving earthly care and attention that it was possible to give her. The following relatives from a distance were present for the funeral: Mrs. Kline, Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Watson from Oil City; Mrs. Mary Davis of Franklin; Rev. and Mrs. Nickle of Ripley, NY; Mrs. Mary Weaver of Meadville; Mrs. Etta Mays, Hazel, Harold and Herbert Linn of Rockland; George Sheffer and the Linns, of Emlenton. Interment was in the Linn lot in the old Georgeville Cemetery.
