General Notes: Husband - Richard McChesney

He was born in England and there received a fine education. Of his family only he and his brother Robert came to America; they at first located in Philadelphia, but soon moved to Beaver County, Pennsylvania. Richard purchased a large farm on the Little Beaver River, while Robert bought three hundred acres on the Big Beaver River. Richard followed farming, and was also largely engaged in stock-raising; as there were no railroad facilities for shipping in those early days it was necessary to drive the cattle to the far-away markets. He always observed the Sabbath, and while driving cattle to the markets in Philadelphia he would never allow his drovers to work on that day.
