G. Perry Lindsey.
G. Perry Lindsey, a former resident of Franklin, died suddenly at his home in Bradford Saturday morning at 3:30 o'clock.
Mr. Lindsey was born near Patchel Run, Sugarcreek township, on May 20, 1859. He went to work in the Galloway oil fields when the excitement was on at that pace when he was but a youth. Eary in life he purchased a string of tools and was a successful contractor in that field. He also operated in the Sugar Lake, Bullion and Raymilton fields, drilling more wells than any other contractor in the Raymilton field and operating as many as five strings of tools at one time. He was well known among the oil men of the county and although he retired a few years ago he always took an interest in the oil business.
For the last 25 years he was a member of the Free Methodist church being a faithful member and a staunch Christian in business, social and religious world.
On April 25, 1887, he married Sarah E. Schwab, of Venus. She, with the following children survive: George O., of Franklin; S. W., of Polk; John D., of Washington, Ind; Mrs. Edward Garvey, of Buffalo; Mrs. Warren Lancy, of Bradford; Mrs. Lex McKee, of Polk; Lewis, Paul and Esther, at home. Also 12 grandchildren and one brother, P. R. Lindsey, of Rocky Grove.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
