General Notes: Husband - John Z. Lindemuth
He was born at the family home, where in his youth attendance at school was varied by farm labor. Having in 1848 decided upon an active business vocation, he removed to Elk County, Pennsylvania, and became actively interested in the manufacture of lumber and in mercantile ventures. After a residence of twenty years at that location he returned in 1868 to Lancaster County, and choosing Marietta as his home, became one of its enterprising merchants.
Mr. Lindemuth was in sympathy with the principles of the Republican party, however he devoted little time to the political issues of the day, and never participated in the struggles for official preferment. He did fill various offices of trust and responsibility. He was an attendant upon the services of the Presbyterian Church, and a supporter of all the religious denominations of his borough.
