General Notes: Husband - Seth C. Lincoln
After leaving his old home near Monson, Massachusetts, he lived for a time in New York state, there following agricultural pursuits. Then he came to the headwaters of Oil creek in northwestern Pennsylvania and took up a tract of land in the wilderness, where he spent the remainder of his life in typical pioneer activities. He cut timber and rafted it down to Pittsburgh, built a large dam for waterpower and erected a fine sawmill and grist mill, and founded the town of Lincolnville, named in his honor. When he settled there, Meadville, twenty-one miles distant, was the nearest town. He was accidentally killed while rafting lumber down Oil creek, while yet a young man, still in the midst of his labors.
