He was a resident of County Armagh, Ireland, for a short time previous to 1766. Subsequently he joined his brother John in America, and he was drowned in crossing a river near Philadelphia on his way to meet his son Robert, who had come in his ship to conduct him back to Ireland. [CAB, 453]
