He lived for a time in Providence, Rhode Island. He seems to have had property in the state of Connecticut. In Ashford, Connecticut, records of a deed are found given by James Corbin, of Woodstock, Connecticut, to Richard Lewis, of Providence, July 11, 1717. In later deeds his sons, Edward and Nehemiah, speak of their "honored but deceased father," Richard Lewis.
