General Notes: Husband - John McCabe
He was born in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and at the age of seventeen years, began work by the month for neighboring farmers. After marriage he and his wife remained in Allegheny County for two years, then removed to a farm in Peters township, Washington County, containing 225 acres of good land. After the death of his wife he continued to reside on the old place, keeping a family in the house to care for the property. He made a specialty of sheep raising, and gave much attention to general farming. Politically, Mr. McCabe was an enthusiastic Democrat, and he served as supervisor of his township. In matters of religion he was a member of the Centre Presbyterian Church, which he served as trustee. Even when almost eighty years old, he retained much of the strength which marked his younger days, and could hitch up his horse and ride where he pleased, without the aid of hostler or driver.
