This family comes of German stock, the ancestors coming to America at an early period. He was probably born in New Jersey, became a pioneer settler in Point township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, where he was engaged in farming for many years, his death occurring at the age of eighty.
He spent all his life in Point township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, where he was a farmer throughout his active years. He owned 240 acres of land, of which 201 acres were later owned by his son Charles M. He and his wife were Presbyterians in religious belief. [sic]
He was a native of Berks County, Pennsylvania, and came, when a boy, with his parents to Northumberland. His ancestors, who were originally from France, came to America prior to the Revolutionary war. He died at the age of seventy-three years. [CBRCP-CCUS, 1128]
