General Notes: Husband - Samuel Singer

His father emigrated at an early day from Germany to Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and subsequently came to Greensburg, Westmoreland County, where he afterwards died.

He was born at Carlisle, Pennsylvania, removed in early life with his father to Greensburg, Westmoreland County, and served in the War of 1812 under Gen. Harrison. He was a member of Major John B. Alexander's company, which went from Westmoreland County. At the close of the war he returned home and married. He was a quiet, unpretentious man. He and his wife were active members of the United Presbyterian church. In political affairs Mr. Singer was an old line whig until 1856, when he became a republican.

He and his wife had nine children, of whom eight were living in 1890.
