General Notes: Husband - Absalom Steele

He was born south of Oakland X Roads in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. He engaged in farming and stock-raising. He was a member and officer of the Reformed church, and a man of strong views. A republican from conviction, he was not an extremist, and held the various offices of his township. He was a soldier in the Civil War.
