He prepared at Swarthmore and graduated from Princeton University in the class of 1923, and became a resident of New York City, where he belonged to the Princeton Club, of New York, Squadron A Club, and the Glen Ridge Club. He was also a member of the Princeton Court Club, Lambda Chi Alpha. He was also a member of the Port Allegany City Club.
