General Notes: Husband - Randall Laughlin
He was a pioneer of Indiana County, Pennslyvania.
The old Laughlin homestead, in the early survey, was bounded by tracts of William McNut, James McComb, John Gibson, Benj. Harbison and Thomas Taylor. It contained three hundred and seventy and three-fourths acres of land with allowance, and in the patent is described as adjoining lands of John Gibson, in Armstrong township. The old orchard planted about 1776 or 1777, had five apple trees still standing over a century later.
He was taken prisoner by the Indians, and his wife, Elizabeth, escaped on horseback with her son James in her arms, swam the Conemaugh River that night and rode ten miles to Wallaces's Fort, where they remained until the danger was over and the Indians had left the country.
