General Notes: Husband - Peter Sutton

He was a soldier of the Revolutionary War.

He and his family migrated from the strong Presbyterian settlement of Baskin Ridge, in New Jersey, to the vicinity of Newport, Indiana County, Pennsylvania, on Black-lick, about 1790. Some time between 1790 and 1806 he became one of the pioneer settlers at what is now Indiana borough, in the latter year having a log hotel on Philadelphia street, on what afterward was the site of Wilson's
mercantile establishment.
