General Notes: Husband - Andrew W. Kimmell

At the age of eighteen, he commenced to learn the tailor trade with Alexander Dickey, of Indiana, Pennsylvania, and at the end of his apprenticeship received sixteen dollars in money and four months' schooling. He taught school, worked at his trade, or other callings, as circumstances permitted. He served as a clerk in the Interior department at Washington from May, 1861, to November, 1866. During the exciting war period, he was a "constant and tried friend" of the wounded or sick soldier, whose sufferings he ever endeavored to mitigate. He was a member of the state house of representatives at the session of 1867, and from May, 1871, to December, 1874; and held a position in the custom house. His last public career was that of a member of the state house of representatives during the sessions of 1875 and '76.
