He was the first member of this family to settle in the Ligonier valley, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and the date was prior to 1800. He was a farmer, born near Richmond, Virginia. He removed from that locality to Maryland, and from thence to the Ligonier valley.

He was a farmer living near Richmond, Virginia, who, after serving as a soldier in the Continental Army during the Revolution, settled in the Ligonier Valley, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, sometime prior to 1800.
