Civil War: On August 23, 1862, he enlisted in Company A, One Hundred and Fifty-fifth Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. He died of camp fever and was buried in the National Cemetery, Antietam, Maryland, section 26, lot D, grave 452.
