General Notes: Husband - Maj. Michael Kunkle
He spent his entire life as a farmer in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. He met his death as the result of the explosion of the wooden cylinder of an old fashioned tumbling shaft threshing machine. He was about sixty-eight years old.
He was one of the leading farmers of Westmoreland County, an influential Democrat, a member of the German Reformed church, and served as major in a Westmoreland County regiment.
He and his wife had five sons, three of whom were still living in 1890.
